We had 2 members and a guest ( Ken Ganancial ) fishing the
third
tournament of the year on Banks Lake. It was
in the low 60's for the 4:45
Saturday blast off with moderate wind
conditions. Sunday
saw howling winds for the planned
4:45 am blast off. The three
anglers participating decided to
cancel fishing for Sunday because of
the high winds.
Water temperatures were in the mid
60's to the low 70's on the main
lake. Bill Hancock had starter
problems on his pick up and did not
fish. New club member
John Atabero arrived just after the
4:45 am Saturday blast off.
John did not have a tournament
banner and decided not to keep his
fish without a tournament banner.
Since this was his first tournament
he wasn't sure what to do. Ken
Ganancial was the winner with 13.42
pounds. He weighed three
smallies and two largemouths.
Tom was second. He also
weighed three smallies and two
largeouhs. They started by
throwing topwater around Coulee
Playland. After the topwater
bite died Ken switched to a swim
bait and Tom switched to a drop
shot. They both had limits
within an hour and caught several
more smallies. They later
fished the Causeway slews and the
Punchbowl reeds for largemouths
throwing Senkos and texas rigged
plastics. The Senkos produced
the best. Another
great fishing day on Banks Lake.
The next club tournament is
September on
Banks Lake.
