We had 2 members fishing the first
tournament of the year on Lake
Roosevelt. It was
in the 50's for the 5:20
Saturday blast off with mild wind
conditions until 8:30 am on Saturday
when it blew with gusts up to 35
MPH. With the high winds the
weigh in was moved from 3:00 pm to
1:00 pm. Sunday wind
conditions were worse than Saturday
so Sunday was cancelled. The
water level was 1231 feet, 59 feet
low. Water temperatures were
between 48 and 50 degrees.
Brian Walters won his first club
tournament with 16 pounds and 1
ounce ( a new one day club record).
Brian was fishing the Wynhoff Cove
area. He said he caught fish
on jerk baits and crank baits untill
8:00 am. After 8:00 am he
switched to a Football Head Jig and
Hula Grub. Tom said he caught
25 keepers all on a green pumpkin
tube. He mostly fished the
Swawilla Basin flats but also caught
a few fish by Spring Canyon.
The fish were right up on shore.
Another great spring fishing day on
Lake Roosevelt!
The next club tournament is the
Jamboree on
Banks Lake. |
